The U11 football team took part in the FA Premier League Tournament at Ewood Park, Blackburn. This tournament included 28 schools from around the North West. Beech House got their campaign off to a frustrating start against St Paul’s, losing 2-0. The boys failed to show their quality in this match but bounced back suitably with a 4-0 victory over Burscough. Jacob Hill showed his finishing qualities in this match to bag a couple for his tournament tally. However, the star of the match was undoubtedly goalkeeper Subhan Mahmood who made a string of fine saves to earn a clean sheet for the team. Beech House were brought back down to earth in the next game, being beaten 2-0 by Ryeland’s School. Ryeland dominated the midfield and took their chances well. Once more, Beech House bounced back, earning a hard fought draw against St George’s thanks to a lovely taken goal by James Hart, and a wonderful display in a 5-2 victory over Clayton Brook. Jacob Hill once again filling his boots with an excellent hat-trick. The final game saw Beech House score their third win of the tournament, beating St Peter’s 3-1. Jacob Hill finished the tournament with 9 goals, James Hart with 2, Conor Leyland with 2 and Jacob Dench with 1. It was an excellent showing from the whole team, earning themselves the position of 7th overall. It was an excellent experience for the whole squad, well done!
