Year 6 Fire Brigade Visit

The Fire Brigade came to our school to talk about safety.

Some other rescue services are: Ambulance, Police, Life Guards, Mountain Rescue and Fire Fighters.

John and Chris (The Fire Brigade) talked about what they do; they put our fires, floods and sometimes animal rescues.  They also talked about the recent fires they went to.  One was when a family decided to have a barbeque indoors and the whole block set on fire.

They also talked about what to do when a piece of your clothing catches fire and some safety rules, once you are out of a building that is on fire, never go back until the fire is out.

John and Chris also talked about how they freed a horse from mud.  They also told us about a giant fire where they had to get Firefighters from other cities and towns to help put the fire out.

They told us not to go to close to a firework especially on bonfire night.  They told us never to light a candle near anything that can catch fire and not to play with lighters and matches and to keep them away from children, especially babies.
