The show was presented by our Year 11 students Declan Anthony and Alex Roebuck. The music producer was Mrs Voyle and the sound engineers were our Year 10 students Sophie Wilkinson and Charlotte Higginson. The director and producer was Miss Carlile and her PA Maria Grange.
Representing the Red kitchen was Year 11 student Alex Wilkinson and in the Green kitchen was Ella Raw, also in Year 11. They had a selection of ingredients to choose from and were required to make an appetizing dish within ten minutes that were to be judged by the principle Mr Sartain and our guest the Vicar of Rochdale, Reverend Mark Coleman and our studio audience – the Beech House School students.
During the ten minutes, the studio audience were lucky to have some entertainment from the talented Beech House School Choir that performed a wonderful version of Dona Nobis Pacem (composer unknown) and Ease on Down the Road from the Wiz with Mrs Voyle.
After a tense 20 second countdown the chefs presented their dishes to the judges. The Red chef – Alex had created a Quorn chicken-style wrap, with salad and mayonnaise. The Green chef – Ella produced a Quorn ham-style bagel with cheese and salad.
Both judges Mr Sartain and Reverend Mark tasted the dishes and were impressed, giving positive comments about both dishes. They decided that theGgreen kitchen was the winning dish, however they were outvoted by the studio audience that used their voting cards to choose the red kitchen. Alex Wilkinson won the contest, winning a cook book and a mug.
Sophie and Charlotte did a reading about the importance of harvest time and thanked everybody that make a donation that will go to our local charity Petrus.
Our guest visitor Reverend Mark led thanksgiving and told us of his experience in London at the Extinction Rebellion Protests. He reminded us of the importance of being grateful for what we have and how we must look after our world before it is too late.
Petrus will be thankful for all of the donations made this year. A big thank you to staff, students and parents for making this a success!
