Under 16 Football v Matthew Moss

Beech House School under 16 football team played away to Matthew Moss. Having previously played the evening before, some of the team were nursing some niggling injuries. However, the game started brightly for both teams with some good football played and chances at both ends. Matthew Moss then slowly gained a foothold in the game and dictated the play around the midfield area, without causing too many problems for the Beech House defence. A counter attack from Beech House provided a clear cut opportunity, with the ball being played into the space behind the defenders and Adam Deng latched onto it and smashed it beyond the goalkeeper. There were plenty more chances for Beech House, but an inspired goalkeeping display kept the score to one nil at half time. The team talk focussed on keeping tight for the first 10 minutes and preserving the lead, in order to build on it later in the game – unfortunately this was undone with the first attack of the second half and an equaliser within two minutes of the restart. The boys had to regroup and began to share possession of the ball and with 5 minutes to go, Archie Parnell put a lovely throw-in, directly into the path of Luke Ashworth who slotted home the winner with a cool finish. An outstanding performance by the team and we look forward to future wins
