Under 16 Football v Middleton Tech

In driving rain and blowing gales, there was some excellent football from both sides, in what can only be described as ‘difficult’ conditions. Beech House started brightly and piled on the pressure with wave after wave of attacks, but with a greater degree of luck and without an outstanding goalkeeper making some wonderful saves, Beech House would have taken the lead. Unfortunately, Middleton Tech broke away twice with their only two attacks and scored on both occasions. Beech House continued to play good football and were rewarded when we broke away down the right hand side and the ball found its way to Jawad Mehboob on the edge of the area who unleashed an unstoppable shot that hit the underside of the bar and flew in. With the ascendency back, Finlay Grady had another excellent shot saved low down to the goalkeeper’s left, frantically tipping the ball round the post on the second attempt. Beech House started to dominate and Archie Parnell went one on one with the goalkeeper who made a great initial save, but he followed it up and put it in the back of the net. 2-2 at half time. The second half started exactly as the first, with two break away goals from Middleton Tech, but Beech House again came back in to the game with a ferocious shot from the area by Finlay Grady to make it 3 -4 . Pressure was mounting throughout the whole half, but Beech House could not find a way past the excellent opposition goalkeeper. A fantastic performance by all the players in a competitive and well spirited game. Well done!
